Southend is getting ready for a busy Easter bank holiday weekend, with families and visitors heading to the city to make the most of its beaches, attractions and great outdoor spaces.

With plenty happening across the long weekend and beyond, Southend is the perfect place to enjoy an Easter day out or short break by the sea. Whether you’re planning family fun, fresh-air adventures or something a little different, there’s lots to discover.

This Easter, visitors can also explore the newly opened Southend Museums Collections Centre, which opened to the public earlier this month. The new centre offers the chance to book behind-the-scenes tours of the collections store, browse the curatorial library and discover objects and archives from across Southend and the wider South Essex area.

There is plenty more to enjoy across the city too, from playing the brand-new MONOPOLY: Southend Edition to woodland walks in Belfairs, free HAF activities, character breakfasts at Grumpy’s, and a roaring dino egg hunt on Southend Pier.

For those looking to get creative, there are hands-on activities at Focal Point Gallery as well as Sip and Paint sessions, while film lovers and mini astronauts can enjoy movies, meteorites, planetarium shows and cosmic chats across Southend’s museums and galleries.

Whatever your kind of Easter fun, Southend has something for everyone this spring. Visitors can explore a packed programme of events and activities across the city, making it easy to build a full day out or even a longer Easter stay.

Getting here is easy too, with frequent train services, regular local buses and travel information available for those arriving by car. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, particularly while travel arrangements continue to support changes linked to the Better Queensway regeneration project. The regeneration project is helping to create a safer, greener and more welcoming neighbourhood in the heart of the city, with improved roads, better walking and cycling routes, redesigned public spaces and new homes for the local community.

Check out our What's On page for full details of all the events happening in the city, and be sure to follow our social media channels for the latest travel updates and Easter weekend information.
