We were lucky enough to attend the opening event of the new Kiss Me Quick exhibition, and it looked absolutely amazing. From the moment we stepped through the unique entranceway, it was clear that this is more than just an exhibition. It's a heartfelt celebration of Southend's rich seaside heritage and the memories that generations of visitors and residents have shared along our coastline.

Hosted at Southend Central Museum, Kiss Me Quick: A Love Letter to Southend takes visitors on a nostalgic journey through the city's vibrant entertainment history. The exhibition explores how Southend evolved from a health and wellbeing destination into one of the UK's most beloved seaside resorts, welcoming countless day-trippers and holidaymakers from East London and beyond.

One of the highlights is the way the exhibition brings Southend's past to life through a fascinating collection of objects, photographs, sounds and memorabilia. Visitors can discover stories from the town's iconic attractions, from bustling amusements and bandstands to the legendary Kursaal. Every display offers a glimpse into the energy and excitement that helped shape Southend's identity over the years.

Whether you're reminiscing about childhood trips to the seafront or discovering Southend's history for the first time, there's something to capture your imagination. Families will also find plenty to enjoy, with activities designed especially for younger visitors.

The exhibition runs from 1 August 2026 until 2 May 2027 at Central Museum on Victoria Avenue, giving plenty of opportunities to experience this wonderful celebration of Southend's cultural past.
