Classic Cars are back for summer 2026

A much-loved Southend favourite is set to return this summer as Classic Cars on the Beach heads back to City Beach for 2026, bringing vintage style, heritage motors and plenty of seaside nostalgia to the seafront.

Hosted by Southend-on-Sea City Council in partnership with the Southend and District Classic Car Club, the event will once again line City Beach with an impressive display of classic vehicles, all more than 25 years old, for visitors and residents to enjoy.

From beautifully restored vintage cars to iconic models from the late 20th century, the event offers the chance to get up close to a wide range of classic vehicles while enjoying one of Southend’s best-loved seafront settings.

Visitors can take a stroll along the promenade, admire the cars, chat to owners and make the most of everything else Southend has to offer, from seafront attractions and great food and drink to a relaxed day by the sea.

Cllr Matt Dent, Cabinet Member for Business, Culture, Music and Tourism, said:

“Classic Cars on the Beach is a brilliant addition to Southend’s summer events programme and a fantastic way to celebrate motoring heritage against the unique backdrop of our seafront. It is always a popular event with visitors and residents alike, and it helps showcase Southend as a welcoming, vibrant place to visit, with something different to enjoy throughout the year.”

Cllr Daniel Cowan, Leader of Southend-on-Sea City Council, said:

It has long been a popular feature of the seafront calendar, and we know many people will be pleased to see it back. It’s a great fit for Southend and adds something special to the atmosphere along the seafront over the summer months.”

Classic Cars on the Beach will take place on the last Sunday of each month from May to October, from 9am to 4pm, creating a regular highlight across the summer season.
