Southend-on-Sea is a vibrant, welcoming and well-connected coastal city brimming with opportunities, seamlessly blending its rich heritage with a contemporary, creative outlook.

Together, we are creating a city that not only meets the needs of today’s residents but also sparks imagination, fosters creativity and encourages entrepreneurship inspiring future generations to live, learn, work, and visit here.

This vision reflects the shared aspirations and priorities of our diverse community, including residents, workers, business owners, visitors, and students.

 Southend’s high streets, neighbourhoods and business parks are alive with energy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. From distinctive shops and rich heritage to vibrant cultural spaces, these areas showcase the city’s dynamic and creative spirit, offering unique experiences that attract visitors and provide exciting opportunities for residents and businesses alike, all driven by our city’s inherent “can do” attitude.

Southend City Partnership

The Southend City Partnership set out to develop a 10-year vision for Southend, owned by local partners, businesses, organisations, residents and communities, which will inspire and transform the city Southend into a thriving, inclusive, and resilient place over the next decade.

  The City Vision belongs to everyone!

  Its power comes from all the partners in the Southend City Partnership working together and staying committed. We created Southend’s Vision by asking lots of people for their ideas. We wanted everyone to have a chance to share their thoughts, so the vision works for all of us.

  
  

  The City Vision was launched on 1 March 2025 – just in time for the very first City Day party and celebrations.

  
  

  What’s next?

  Our team has promised to include the City Vision in all their big plans so we can turn great ideas into real changes for Southend!

  We aim to keep things clear and simple, with no unnecessary paperwork so we can focus on what matters. We’ll look for things that are already working really well and give them a boost. We’ll also team up for new projects and funding to fix what needs improving.

  Every year, we check how well we’re doing with the City Vision.

  We want everyone – from partners to local heroes – to join in and help make Southend an even better place to live, work, and play!
