One giant leap for Southend’s aspiring astronauts! This summer, join our intrepid intergalactic team for a full weekend of planetarium shows, handling sessions, astronomy talks and space activities at our Supermassive Space Weekend. Its like a Space Day… but Supermassive!

Little Stars Early Years Show –

A small start into space, the solar system and beyond for all aspiring astronauts, in a show specially curated for younger children.

Summer Skies –

From constellations and comets to the sun, stars and beyond, this is a great interstellar introduction for children ages 7+.

Gentle Stars SEND Show –

An SEND friendly adaptation of our ‘The Night Sky’ show, held in the more accessible Beecroft Art Gallery lecture theatre.

Mini Moons –

A special short planetarium show all about the mysteries of the moon, for ages 5+.

Meet the Meteorites –

Reach for the stars in an interactive handling session with real space materials.

Exploring Space & Time: From Wormholes to Warp Drive –

An accessible talk on the cosmic concepts of space and time by our local astrophysicist.

Picturing Space – An Introduction to Astrophotography –

An interactive talk by astrophotographer Dawid Glawdzin, With picture and equipment demos, forget the paparazzi and discover the true meaning of photographing the stars.

Cosmonaut Rhyme Time –

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … blast off on a space-themed poetry workshop with published children’s poet, Linda Middleton. Learn facts about gravity and celestial objects, and daydream about the magic of the moon and the sparkle of the stars.
