Southend Barge Match 2024

Thames sailing barges will be arriving off Thorpe Bay Yacht Club on Friday 7th June, to take part in a race – or ‘Barge Match’ – On Saturday 8th June.

The start will be some time from 1200 onwards from a start line of Thorpe Bay Yacht Club.

The course to be sailed will depend on the wind and tide conditions on the day, and this may also have an effect on which vessels can attend.
After the race, the barges may anchor off Thorpe Bay Yacht Club so that the crews can come ashore for a prizegiving.

Thorpe Bay Yacht Club will be the start and finish, with an inshore course along Southend Foreshore.
