The Big Switch On

The Big Switch On is back this Christmas! Join us for a full day celebrating the diverse community and culture in the city of Southend.

Market
9am – 7pm | High Street
Kick off the day with our artisan market located near the railway bridge with live music, art, clothing and lots more to pick up as treats or gifts. Have a go on some of the rides whilst here or head up the High Street to browse more from the general and food market.

Busking Bus
11am-5pm | Lloyds Bank
Next stop you can watch an array of performances from local talent. See acoustic acts, bands and magicians showcase their skills.

Come as Yourself, Leave as an Elf
11am – 5pm | Select Businesses
Get crafty and join the trail to transform into one of Santa’s helpers by visiting select businesses in the city. When you’ve visited all the elfie stations head to The IronWorks for the prize of meeting Father Christmas!

Main Stage
12pm – 6pm | Victoria Circus
Hosted by BBC Essex, we will have an eclectic celebration of the cultures and communities in our city. Soak in the excitement of vibrant steel drums from the Caribbean community, Flamenco dancers from the Spanish community, choirs, bands, and more performances from the people that make Southend the amazing city that it is.

Fireworks Finale
7.30pm | Seafront
To finish off the day make your way to the seafront for this year’s fireworks finale, ending the days celebrations with a bang.
