This special Creative Open Day will see Focal Point Gallery celebrating all things eco and green! With activities and workshops that gather together the community and celebrate our city with tips, tricks and tools to connect you with nature and see things in a different light. Camera-less Photography
11am to 3pm
Local artist, Anna Lukala will be leading a workshop looking at special photographic methods called ‘lumen’ prints. Come along to have a go, create your own and learn this amazing method that uses no camera.

Earth-Friendly Art
11am to 3pm
Local permaculture practitioner and artist Graham Burnett is offering a workshop on drawing with hand-made charcoal and other natural and recycled materials.

Repair Cafe
11am to 2pm
In our special pop-up Repair Cafe with Southmenders, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. Bring your items in need of some repair! On clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, et cetera. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields to help you give your things a new life!

If you have nothing to repair, you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. You can also get inspired at the reading table – by leafing through books on repairs and DIY.

Seed Bomb Making
11am to 3pm
Trust Links ECO Days will be leading a stall to create seed bombs with coastal wildflowers and grasses to you to take home and create your very own eco habitat for wildlife in Southend and Essex.

Shell Pots
11am to 3pm
Trustlinks ECO Days will also be on hand to bring new life to old plastic plant pots with disused materials from Focal Point Gallery’s learning programme – shells!

Essex Wildlife Trust
11am to 1pm

Essex Wildlife Trust will be showcasing some of their coastal work, particular to protect and restore local seagrass meadows, which are vital in our combat against climate change.

Storm Warning Tours
12pm and 2pm

FPG Director, Katharine Stout will be leading Gallery Tours of our current exhibition ‘Storm Warning’, which explores the impact of climate change on coastal communities.
