59th Essex Open Art Exhibition

Beecroft Art Gallery

The Essex Open Art Exhibition began all the way back in 1957 with an idea by our founder Walter Beecroft to create a showcase for artists in Essex, giving them an opportunity to show their work on the walls of the then newly opened Beecroft Art Gallery.

70 years later The Essex Open is now the largest and longest running open exhibition within the region, and continues to be a mainstay in the Beecroft Art Gallery programme.
Featuring a huge variety of works from a range of artists across the county, this years exhibition has been selected by ESCALA Curator, Dr Sarah Demelo, who we would like to thank along with our generous People’s Choice award sponsor Southend Adult Community College.
