Family Heritage Trail Launch
Cart and Wagon ShedJoin in the new Family Heritage Trail Launch at Shoeburyness Garrison.
History lovers and families alike are invited to step back in time with the launch of the brand new Shoeburyness Garrison Family Heritage Trail, opening on Saturday 31 January 2026.
The trail offers a flat, fully accessible route of just over a mile, making it perfect for visitors of all ages and abilities. The map has been beautifully designed in collaboration with local illustrator Joshua Davey.
The official launch will take place at 10:45am at the Cart and Wagon Shed, a historic building now combining a heritage centre, café and community rooms within the Garrison. The team are honoured that the trail will be opened by Bayo Alaba MP. Everyone is welcome, booking is not required and guests will be among the first to explore the route, meet the individuals who developed the map, and enjoy refreshments and craft activities for all the family.

The 1 1/3rd mile walk has been developed to encourage residents and visitors with children to explore the Garrison’s history at their own pace. With the trail map as a guide, participants can enjoy historical tales, scenic views, and family-friendly exploration.
