Discover more

Discover Wunderkammer at Central Museum. The word is literally translated from German as ‘room of wonder’ and in English it is usually referred to as a ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’. Many Wunderkammer originated in royal treasuries, where the crown jewels and items of regalia were housed with other items of value for safekeeping. Cabinets of Curiosities acted as a precursor to museums and this exhibition will explore the evolution and the continued mass appeal of museums today.

Adventure Inside

Discover Adventure Inside, the home of BIG entertainment whatever the weather! With a huge soft play area, rides and games, and the Feelgoods Family Diner, it’s a great day out all under one roof!

Southend Pier & Railway

Even in the wet weather Southend Pier is a must do when visiting Southend! Enjoy the views and keep dry with a ride on the famous Pier train. Running every half an hour, it's a fantastic way to see the estuary views without getting wet. The Visitor information centre even sells rain ponchos if you're feeling brave enough to disembark!

Keeping Together Scheme

Pick up a Keeping together wristband to ensure peace of mind when visiting Southend. The free wristband from Southend BID and Essex Police is designed for children to wear and contains space for parents or carers to write a contact number, in case the worst should happen.
