A Weekend in Southend

Southend is one of the driest places in England so is the perfect place to visit for a seaside staycation. There's so much to see and do here you might need longer than a day to explore. We've created this weekend ideas guide to give you some inspiration for your next break!

Friday Night

Begin your weekend by checking in to the impressive Roslin Beach Hotel. Featuring 62 bespoke rooms and suites with handmade furniture and extensive in-room luxuries like plush bathrobes and complimentary Wi-Fi, Roslin Beach Hotel is a coastal retreat and a top choice in Southend hotels.

Freshen up in your room and then head down and experience their award-winning menus in their AA two Rosette Restaurant, where you can tempt your palate on the beach side terraces and watch the sun set over the estuary..

Saturday Morning

No trip to the seaside is complete without, well, a trip to the seaside! We have seven miles of coastline to explore, from busy beaches with lots to do, to quiet hideaways. Whatever the weather Southend's beaches are an Instagram dream!

Saturday Lunch

There's plenty of places in Old Leigh to grab something for lunch, whether you fancy some classic pub grub or a fancy sit-down meal. Afterwards you can take a wander down the quaint cobbled streets, while you watch the fishing boats bob along the Estuary.

Saturday Afternoon

Take a stroll around one of Southend's many galleries. The city's diverse galleries showcase the fantastic artwork and the thriving art scene Southend has on offer.

Saturday Evening

After your busy day, head back to the hotel to freshen up before heading out for some dinner and some live theatre! Southend is bursting with places to eat and plays host to big name shows and talent at our local theatres.

Sunday Morning

After a luxurious breakfast in bed, head out for a morning of fun at one of Southend's newest attraction. Enjoy the new generation of ten pin bowling with one of the country's first interactive bowling alleys.

Sunday Lunch

We think it's an unwritten law somewhere that if you visit the seaside you have to sample some seafood too. You won't have trouble finding somewhere to get it in Southend, whether it's your classic fish and chips, or something more adventurous like locally caught cockles!

Sunday Afternoon

You can't visit Southend and not venture down the worlds longest pleasure pier. Stretching out to an impressive 1.3miles, you can get those steps in and walk or let the train take the strain. Why not pick up a hot drink at the end to help warm you up!
