When Darkness Falls

8.00 pm to 11.00 pm

Spinning Yarns Theatre is bringing a chilling ‘Word Spun Nights: When Darkness Falls’ pop-up event to The Ironworks this Halloween.

Join Hannah Brailsford, James Little, George Bassett and Maryam Noorhimli for an evening of candle-lit spine-chilling stories and haunting music for adults in the atmospheric surroundings of Southend’s newest community arts venue. Hannah says of Spinning Yarns; “Our ethos is to make performative storytelling both accessible and exciting, blending this ancient art form with both traditional and contemporary music and spoken word.” Audiences agree these events are not to be missed; “I hadn’t been to an event like this before so wasn’t sure what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I will be back for more!”

Spinning Yarns began its ‘Once Upon a Time’ back in 2016 to bring the magic of storytelling to adult audience’s across South East Essex and beyond. Established and run by local professional storyteller Hannah Brailsford, the company has provided regular nights at venues across Southend and supported local festivals with their exciting and entertaining blend of performance storytelling, spoken word and music.
