Visit the Vulcan Classic Jets Day

London Southend Airport
10.00 am to 4.00 pm
Vulcan Restoration Trust

See former Royal Air Force bomber Avro Vulcan XL426 up close at our Visit the Vulcan Classic Jets Day. You can walk round Vulcan XL426 and for an additional fee you can climb inside for a guided tour of the Vulcan’s cockpit.

XL426 will be joined by the cockpits of classic jets from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s that are preserved by enthusiasts from around the country. Details of these and other displays are to be announced – watch this space!

There will be burger, hot dog and sweet and savoury pancake stands as well as a craft beer stall, so no one will go hungry or thirsty. The Vulcan Restoration Trust’s souvenir stand will be open selling a selection of Vulcan souvenirs, including models, badges, patches, postcards, books and much more.

General admission is £7.00 for adults with accompanied under-16s FREE. Tickets will be on sale on the gate and are also available to buy in advance should you wish. There is no need to buy tickets for under-16s.

Full refunds will be given if, for any reason, the event does not go ahead.

Cockpit visits are an additional £7.00 per person applicable to both adults and under-16s.

Cockpit visits will take place every 15 minutes on a timed ticket basis, so there will be no need to stand and queue. Cockpit visit tickets are subject to availability and will only be on sale on the day. When they’re gone, they’re gone!

Entry and cockpit tours are free for Vulcan Restoration Trust members subject to presenting a valid VRT membership card.

Doors open at 10.00 am on each day with last admission at 4.00 pm.

Limited free car parking will be available close to the Vulcan. Please follow the ‘Vulcan Open Day’ direction signs after entering the airport. If the Vulcan car park is full, visitors will need to park in the airport’s short stay car park (for which there is a charge) which is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Vulcan.

Visitors can arrive by bus or train. London Southend Airport station is approximately 10 minutes walk away and is served by frequent trains on the London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria line – turn left when leaving the station and follow the signs to the Vulcan.

Sorry – due to airport rules, we regret that no pets can be admitted with the exception of assistance dogs.
