The Routes to Reading

9.45 am to 11.30 am

Taking place as part of the A Better Start Southend Festival of Conversations taking place across Southend from 12-26 October for families with children up to 4-years-old, and early years’ professionals.

Pre-booking required.

Encouraging confidence in reading and writing is your child’s window to the world and starts in the very early years. We invite parents and carers to meet, A Better Start Southend Specialist (ABSS) Early Years Teachers, to share in a masterclass that will support their little ones’ phonological awareness, leading to success in literacy skills later in life. Join us for routes to reading and practical activities.

During this interactive workshop, we will explore fun ways to support your little one’s journey to becoming a reader and writer, through storytelling, reading, arts and creativity. The early years are crucial to igniting an interest in reading and writing and at ABSS we want to help you on your way, with experienced professionals and supportive mentors. You’ll be able to take away Chat, Play, Sing, Read as we grow leaflets.

A creche is on offer at the point of booking. Accessible parking, toilet and baby changing facilities are available. Please don’t forget to pre-register for this session.

Please note all Festival of Conversations may have a photographer and videographer present to capture the session. There will be an option to opt-out of any media consent upon arrival at the session.
