The Chat-a-Thon Read-a-long
Taking place as part of the A Better Start Southend Festival of Conversations taking place across Southend from 12-26 October for families with children up to 4-years-old, and early years’ professionals.
A child’s brain is like a house, it needs building. When you share stories and playtime with your tot, it is a way of saying, “Well done!’ Together you are building their brain, helping them learn and grow.
Throughout the week of 17 -21 October, your little ones are invited to take part in ABSS’ Chat-a-long Read-a-thon where they can share in the wonder of the book, ‘The Bear Who Stared’ by Duncan Beedie. Early Years settings, Libraries, Family Centres and various stay-and-play events across Southend will be celebrating this lovely book which helps a bear to communicate with his friends.
This celebration of storytelling will give your child access to Southend’s early years’ providers, exploring the wonderful world of words and sparking your child’s imagination, alongside other children and families.
These little moments you share add up to something much bigger, giving children the skills, they need to develop into healthy, bright adults.
Note this event takes place in local settings across the city – and there is no public event to go to. However, should you wish to join in, we have a storytelling session at Jacqson Diego’s on Saturday 15-Oct, 09:30 – 10 am. More info here (pre-registration required).
