Song of the Butterfly

Leigh Community Centre
5.00 pm to 7.30 pm

An interactive production for all children.

The Song of the Butterfly, written by Leigh author Isabel Bee, tells the story of a brave little girl who helps a butterfly find her wings.

Ms Bee successfully brought her illustrated book to life in a costumed workshop and show at Leigh Community Centre last summer, and is now collaborating with the Chalkwell-based arts organisation’s ‘Hosted At’ programme, to develop a special performance on April 13.

Ms Bee explains: “The first performance and workshop was very well received by the local community and I have raised funds for it to grow.

“We now have singers and I have written and composed new material and music for the production.

“The themes are art and the environment, well-being, transformation through creativity, raising self-esteem, patience, kindness, and the importance of silence and the natural world.”

This event will now take place at Leigh Community Centre.

24 children’s workshop tickets are available and 60 tickets for people to watch the performance.
