The People's Gallery

A collection of abstract mixed media paintings drawing on the imagined local landscapes.

This work has been created during my art residency at St Bernard’s in Westcliff. I have been inspired to look at place and elements of place, leaves, cells, roads, maps and symbols. These paintings draw on the imaginary landscapes and colour of the local region.

These paintings rely on colour, overlap and pattern. As an intuitive painter, outcomes are often formed from accidental marks and shapes. This has enabled the pattern and line to evolve from the elements of the natural and manmade landscape in the area.
