Labyrinth

Beecroft Art Gallery
6.30 pm to 9.00 pm

Beecroft Cinema Club presents ‘Cult Classics’ series, screening the iconic films that fans are frenzied for on the last Thursday of each month on the big screen at the Beecroft Art Gallery.

In February, we’re screening 1986 British-American musical fantasy ‘Labyrinth’, directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas and starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. This much loved, eccentric and charming family film is a staple of the fantasy genre, and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Frustrated with babysitting on a Saturday night, Sarah (Connelly), a teenager with an active imagination, summons the Goblins to take her baby brother away in frustration. When Toby actually disappears, Sarah must follow him into a fantastical world to rescue him from the Goblin King, Jareth (Bowie). Guarding his castle is a labyrinth, populated with outrageous characters and unknown dangers. To get through it in time to save her brother, Sarah befriends the Goblins, hoping that their loyalty isn’t just another illusion in a place where nothing is as it seems.

Doors open and refreshments will be available from 6pm and the film will start promptly at 6:30pm (there are no adverts). There is no allocated seating.

The film’s run time is 101 minutes.

The film is rated ‘PG’ and this event is 10+ only.
