Jazz at Sands
Sands by the SeaJune’s guest star at Jazz at Sands is Britain’s national jazz treasure ALAN BARNES. Alan has received so many British Jazz Awards (more than twenty so far!) as best saxophonist, clarinettist and composer that he says ‘I’ve lost count!’ – but adds that that he also won the BBC ‘Best Instrumentalist’ (2001/6) as well as (in his words!) ‘ a bronze skiing badge from 1975 and my life-saving swimming certificate from 1972’. So for once it’s perfectly safe to go back into the waters of the Thames adjoining our beautiful Jazz at the Sands restaurant!
Joining Alan will be our Resident Rat-Pack Trio (Tim Huskisson (piano) Roger Curphey (double bass) and Alan Clarke (drums) and your host will be tooting a few tunes too.
