Get Outside
12.00 pm to 4.00 pmSouthend’s Youth Voice Team invite you to their 2025 GET DAYS
Funded by the Holiday Activities & Food (HAF) programme, these events are open to all young people aged 11–16 who live in or attend school in Southend-on-Sea, who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
GET OUTSIDE
During our GET Outside activity day, we’ll be kicking the day off with a beach clean with Veolia, where we will work together to transform Thorpe Bay beach and make it safe for children and their grownups to enjoy this summer.
There will be a range of prizes for the most unusual finds, the biggest items and the most rubbish collected by a team!
We’ll then have some lunch together before heading to the Beach School where you’ll be invited to enjoy the coast at your own pace, explore natural treasures, and build confidence in a calm and supportive environment.
Activities include:
– Gentle Beach Walk: Explore the shoreline, spot interesting shells, stones, seaweed, and footprints.
– Scavenger Hunt: Sensory-based search for natural treasures (soft, smooth, rough, shiny).
– Rockpool Discovery (Optional, Tide Dependent): Carefully explore shallow rock pools with supervision.
– Nature Art Zone: Create simple beach art using shells, sand, driftwood, and pebbles.
– Calm Zone: A quiet area with blankets and books for those who need a break at any time.
Activities are flexible and optional — children can join in however they feel most comfortable.
We’ll end the day with games on the beach, frisbee, football, and shell collecting.
