Focal Point Gallery is delighted to launch our most recent project, bringing together works by seven Essex-based artists who provide a diverse and unique perspective through the medium of photography on Southend, South Essex and the Estuary. As part of our celebrated Printed Matter collection, the commissioned artworks will be presented on postcards, sales of which will contribute toward funding our future programming, supporting artists, and providing educational programmes. At the same event, we are also pleased to launch the publication, Practice Makes Perfect by Rosa-Johan Uddoh, comprising of new writing and works drawn from, and a part of, Uddoh’s 2021 exhibition at Focal Point Gallery. Practice Makes Perfect focuses on themes of radical self-love, inspired by black feminist practice and writing and is co-published by Book Works and Focal Point Gallery, in association with Bluecoat Gallery, and The Bower.
