For the first time ever in Essex and the UK, Brazilarte has invited twenty one Brazilian artists from the state of Ceara, to exhibit their work during the month of February at the Brazilarte Academy, Victoria Shopping Centre, Southend on Sea Essex, to celebrate Brazilian Carnival Culture.
February is traditionally carnival month in Brazil and to celebrate this spectacle Brazilarte will run a month long exhibition ‘Do Nordeste Para Southend’ (From the Northeast to Southend).
Each Saturday in February there will be an opportunity for the public to get involved in one of the scheduled carnival culture workshops.

– Art Exhibition Opening event – 3pm till 5pm, Free entry, all ages welcome.
Saturday 11th February 2023
– Adults Caxixi making workshop – 2pm – 4pm (Registration essential)
Saturday 18th February 2023
– Kids Carnival Mask making workshop – 2pm – 4pm (Registration essential)
Saturday 28th February 2023
– Forro Dance workshop, followed by Brazilian party & live music – From 6pm (Registration essential)
Brazilarte, based in Southend, Essex was founded in 2012. With the aim to bring the wonders of Brazilian Culture to all ages, cultures and abilities. To build a community that benefits from music, dance, art and movement based activities, that promote good physical and mental health.
The Brazilarte Academy is Brazilarte’s largest project and one of very few full-time cultural centres in the UK, offering classes in Capoeira, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Brazilian Drumming, Dance and CapoYoga for all ages.
