The Physics of Science Fiction: Tardises & Teleports

Beecroft Art Gallery
11.30 am to 1.00 pm

Journey with us from the Beecroft Art Gallery into the darkest corners of the cosmos, as part of our free, four part lecture series ‘The Science of Space’.

The third lecture in our ‘Science of Space’ series is ‘The Physics of Science Fiction: Tardises, Teleports, Warp Drive, and beyond…’. Do wormholes exist? Can we travel backwards through time? Will we ever be able to jump to warp speed? Does life exist elsewhere in the Universe? How big is the energy bill on the Death Star? In this lecture we will explore some of the most exotic ideas from the world of Sci-Fi; discussing the real science (where it exists..) behind fictional technologies and ideas.

This talk is accessible for ages 10+. Older children and adults will enjoy this talk, children younger than 10 are welcome, but some may struggle with understanding the content.

Tickets are free, but prebooking is recommended. Please note that tickets are per person attending the talk. Every attendee will need a ticket.
