STW Creative Collective: Writing Erasure Poetry with Maddi Crease

3.00 pm to 5.00 pm

On the 30th July, as part of Southend’s Twilight Worlds, you are invited to join Maddi for a creative session on identity poems with a focus on erasure poetry. You will learn how to sculpt new pieces of poetry from existing text, as well as creative tools to express the facets of your identity through poetry. The workshop will end with an optional sharing round circle, where you will be invited to showcase your work with the group in a supportive environment. This workshop will last approximately 2 hours.

Priority will be given to those who have expressed interest in joining the STW Creative Collective for people aged 16-25, but a limited number of tickets will be available to the public through Eventbrite.

Maddi Crease is a poet and artist from Southend-on-Sea. She works often on themes of mental health, as well as identity and its many nuances. Crease hosts The Listening Room at Leigh Community Centre on the second Wednesday of every month. She has previously been commissioned by BBC New Creatives, and was a participant of Apples and Snakes’ 2021 Writing Room.
