St Clement’s Face2Face Arts Chaplaincy Exhibition

Leigh Community Centre

The chaplaincy is made up of a group of artists and creatives who are mostly church congregation members. Their joy is to bring art into the church and out into the community when the opportunity arises,

Headed up by Mother Cherry Sandover, associate priest at St Clement’s church in the Broadway and at St Mark’s, Southend – who is also an arts lecturer – the Chaplaincy has been meeting and encouraging each other in various projects for about eight years.

Hosting exhibitions of local artists as well as in-house artists on various themes the intention has also been to encourage Access to Art and Design students from the college to take part, giving them a sense of what it is like to curate a show in a particular context.

This exhibition is a collection of work in various mediums of the artists’ personal passions but on occasions in the past the Art Wall has also hosted Chaplaincy exhibitions such as in 2018 when they marked the Centenary of the First World War.

Some exhibits reflect the life of St Clement’s and its ethos and standing in the community while others simply offer an idea the artist finds inspirational.

Most of the exhibits are for sale and the Chaplaincy will be making a charitable donation from proceeds.
