As part of Cui Jie’s exhibition ‘New Model Village’ at Focal Point Gallery, are excited to welcome you to a photography workshop focused on communities and how that reflects onto individuals.
In this FREE workshop, participants will go on a guided walk around the city centre, photographing that which could be described as quintessentially Southend, taking a closer look at the landscape. This workshop will be led by London-based photography artist, Jonathan Goldberg.
You will then create themed postcards, using the photographs you’ve taken of the city, highlighting the quirky, attractive, ugly, hidden, and bizarre parts of Southend-on-Sea!
Jonathan Goldberg is a London-based portrait and documentary photographer with over 20 years experience. In between regular portrait and documentary commissions, he undertakes personal projects themed around national issues such as place and identity. He has worked with The Guardian, The National Geographic, The Story Institute, Featureshoot and Creative Boom.
No previous photography experience required. Participants will be able to use the galleries digital cameras for this open day.
