Songs can represent a range of topics, emotions and stories. This fun and interactive session will introduce you to the key approaches to writing a song using history as a starting point and resource. You will be exploring the local and hidden histories of three Southend based people, using this to write a song. Bring your own instruments if you want to but this is not essential.
This session will be led by M G Boulter, a local songwriter and musician who has released numerous records and toured with many UK and US groups across the globe. His storytelling style of song writing explores the suburban experience, as well as coastal communities and has been described as “Highly Recommended” by the Independent on Sunday. His second full length album ‘With Wolves the Lamb Will Lie’ was listed as one of the ‘Best Folk Albums of 2016’ by the Daily Telegraph.
The workshop will be focused on the social side, with no prior art experience or understanding of interior design needed. Just a willingness to get involved! This group is for anyone aged over 60.
