Contemporary Elders – PLOT: The Peoples’ Landscape

12.00 pm to 2.00 pm

Please join artist, Shaun C. Badham for our Contemporary Elders event at Springfield Drive allotment with Fay Armstrong; Secretary and Malcolm Pinborough; site manager of Westcliff Land Cultivation Society.

Armstrong and Pinborough will provide a guided tour of the allotment site, how the community operates and the history of the site. This will be followed by a short walk along Prittlewell Brook Greenway to the Trust Links site, where Shaun will share more information about his project PLOT: The Peoples’ Landscape which explores the social, cultural and historical connections between current day society run allotments in the Borough of Southend and historical alternative uses of land such as the Plotlanders.

Once at Trust Links site, Growing Together, a Trust Links member will give a guided tour of the site and its history. The event will finish in Trust Links Christmas Fayre so please joins us for a festive drink and delicious treats.

The Contemporary Elders programme consists of workshops, guided tours, walks and social meetups to join like-minded elders together to break down barriers, encourage life-long learning and enjoyment of the arts in all its forms.

This event is for anyone aged over 60. Whether you are new to contemporary art or a regular gallery attendee, you are welcome. You can attend on your own, with a partner or with friends.
