Located inside the Pier's award-winning entrance, the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) provides a wide range of services as part of the national Tourist Information Centre network, including:
- Booking agents for Cliffs Pavilion, Palace Theatre, National Express, Euroline coaches and Ticketmaster.
- Bookings for local events, boat and coach trips.
- "Book-a-bed-ahead" service - to ensure your reservation for the same or next night.
- Same day accommodation search and bookings (for personal callers only).
- Friendly and knowledgable advice on where to go and what's on in Southend.
- The sale of a range of merchandise, maps, guides, bus, train and tide timetables.
- Keys for disabled toilets under the national RADAR scheme.
- Advance booking for day hire of wheelchairs for visitors who require them.
- Arrangement of guided walks and talks for the Pier, Beaches, Seafront and the Cliffs and Conservation Area.

Southend's world famous Pier operates seven days a week, 364 days a year:
spring:
8.15am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and to 8.00pm at weekends
summer:
8.15am to 8.00pm Monday to Sunday
autumn:
8.15am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and to 8.00pm at weekends
winter
8.15am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday and to 6.00pm at weekends
