Southend-on-Sea is well placed for national and international travel. In fact, it is so easy to get to that you have no excuses not to plan your next visit!

By Rail


Two direct rail lines operate between London and Southend - Fenchurch Street to Southend Central (c2c line) and Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria (National Express). The journey time on both lines is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

By Road


Two major roads - the A127 and A13 link Southend to the M25. From the north Southend is accessible via the A1, M11, M25 (Junction 29 - 20 miles) & A127. From the south, Southend is reached via the M25 (Junction 30 - 26 miles) Dartford Tunnel & A13.

By Coach


National Express operates to/from London Victoria, with the ‘305' service connecting to Southend. The journey time is approximately 2 to 2½ hours.

By Bus


An extensive network of buses operates between Southend-on-Sea's Travel Centre just off the High Street in and around Southend and surrounding towns.
The First X30 runs hourly 7 days a week from London Stansted Airport into Southend Travel Centre.

Parking


There are over 10,000 Council-managed car parking spaces in Southend. For coaches there is parking and other driver facilities at Seaway Coach Park, located on Lucy Road, Southend. Please note that the coach bays along the seafront are strictly for coaches to drop-off and pick-up passengers and must not be used for parking.

By Air


Southend is extremely well connected for air travel and is within easy reach of five airports:
London City Airport - 35 miles
London Stansted Airport - 40 miles
London Gatwick Airport - 59 miles
London Heathrow Airport - 78 miles
London Southend Airport - Approx. two miles from the centre of Southend and 18 miles from Junction 29 of the M25.

Low cost carrier ‘Flybe', operates a twice weekly service to Jersey during the summer.

By Sea


London Cruise Terminal at the Port of Tilbury is only 25 miles away and arriving cruise passengers can reach Southend in about half an hour by train from Tilbury Town station (which is served by a shuttle bus from the cruise terminal).

Harwich, is just 58 miles away and offers connections to/from Holland and Denmark.
