Instructor Profile

Steve Davison,

IKO Examiner IKO UK Rep

Background
After spending most of my life as a CNC programmer for the aerospace industry the time came to do something different.

I decided to try windsurfing and spent several years enjoying the sport recreationaly. In 1993 I began competing nationally with increasing success until 1999 when Inflatable kites first appeared in the UK. This was a turning point in my life and it was not long before all my windsurf kit was replaced with kites.

Kitesurfing
After my first year kitesurfing I qualified as an Instructor through the Wipika schools network who later in 2001 became the International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO)

In 2006 I qualified as 1 of only 16 Kitesurf Examiners in the world. This was a great leap forward for me as the IKO started to send me around the world training Instructors.

UK Representative
In 2007 the IKO appointed me as their representative for the UK. This has been great for the Instructors over here as they now can easily call to discuss their problems making for better relations between the Dominican Republic based headquarters and UK Instructors.
Powerkite
In 2008 I qualified with 2 others in the UK as Powerkite Examiners allowing us to train both Power kite Instructors and above them the Powerkite trainers. For further information please visit www.kitesurfinglessonsessex.co.uk.
