High Street Shopping - Shop-on-Sea!

 

On the High Street you will find all the big name retailers and department stores as well as a wealth of independents, including a large Marks & Spencer store spread over 2 floors, BHS, Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon, Clarks, Republic, HMV, Waterstones, Boots and more. Anchored between 2 modern indoor shopping centres, The Royals (home to Debenhams, H&M, Primark and TK Maxx amongst others) and The Victoria (with a large Next store, New Look and independent stores such as Mini Ha Ha's with its range of designer handbags) you're sure to find what you have been looking for.

Several side streets run perpendicular to the High Street and provide excellent secondary shopping locations and it is here that you will find many independent, quirky and boutique style stores like Bizarre and Pretty Basics.

Mixed with this are a range of coffee shops including Starbucks and Costa Coffee plus a large selection of independent restaurants, bistros and tea rooms unique to Southend-on-Sea, such as Tomassi's (perfect for afternoon tea and a cake or their famous speciality ice creams), Ruby Rox Café, (a boutique café with delicious club sandwiches), Le Petit Petanque (a quaint café/bistro 5 min walk from the High Street overlooking the pretty Alexendra Bowling Green) and Leigh Bagel Bar (for quick fresh bagels). So there are plenty of places to take a break before continuing your shopping experience!

You will also find all the familiar name eateries just off the top of the High Street on London Road, which includes Ask, Pizza Express, Nando's and La Tasca whilst the High Street itself is home to McDonald's and a choice of good traditional fish n' chip shops - perfect to accompany a day by the seaside!

As well as the High Street's retail offering you will also find a lively leisure, evening and night time economy with the Odeon 8-creen multiplex cinema, a range of restaurants and wine bars perfect for a relaxing evening on the town such as Clarence Yard and San Fairie Ann and the ever-popular night-clubs of Mayhem, Storm and Churchills.
