After dark in Southend-on-Sea, you're sure to have a dazzling night out now that we've been awarded a Purple Flag.
Purple Flag is a national accreditation scheme that recognises excellence in the management of town and city centres at night. It is the 'gold standard' for night time destinations and entertainment areas that achieve the standard will be those that offer a better night out to visitors. Purple Flag aims to raise standards and improve the quality of our towns and cities at night.
Only 31 town and city centres have been awarded Purple Flags since the scheme was launched by the ATCM in October 2009 and we're pleased to announce that Southend has now been accredited. So now we have award winning beaches, Green Flags for our parks and now a Purple Flag for our Night Time Economy.
Catch the stars in a top music concert or a West End musical at the Cliffs Pavilion. Be entertained at the Palace Theatre by live music, drama or comedy, or laugh with your favourite stand up at a comedy club in town.
Bright lights of the Kursaal dome signal more top entertainment and all the family will enjoy ten pin bowling in the state-of-the-art bowling alley. Adults can try their luck at Rendezvous Casino or the new Genting Club, or simply meet friends in one of the wine bars or seafront pubs.
