With seven miles of seafront, it's hardly surprising that there's a fantastic choice of beaches in Southend-on-Sea. What's more, with three Blue Flags and seven Quality Coast Awards, this is one of the cleanest stretches of seaside in the UK.
Build sandcastles with the kids at Jubilee or Three Shells Beach at the heart of the seafront, or take your bucket and spade to the quieter sands of Chalkwell Beach or Jubilee Beach. Whatever the weather the Southend seaside offers a variety of sights and sounds whether watching the varied wildlife or simply strolling along the shoreline.
Watch watersports at Thorpe Bay Beach, Shoebury Common or East Beach or choose Westcliff Beach for a stroll at low water, cooling off with an ice cream from Rossi's
At Bell Wharf in Leigh-on-Sea, sample fresh seafood from the Cockle Sheds and then wander through Old Leigh's cobbled streets.
