Rummaging through pockets for change to pay for parking will soon be a thing of the past, as the Council rolls out smartphone payments at its car parks.

Working with parking payment service, MOBON, the Council has set up the scheme in five of the most popular pay and display car parks in Southend-on-Sea.The car parks that are already active on this scheme are:

  • Essex Street
  • Civic Centre North
  • London Road North
  • Tylers Avenue
  • York Road
Signing up to the service is simple to set up and once registered, it takes a few clicks to pay for a ticket. To sign up, please visit the MOBON website.

When you receive your Blue Badge you will also receive a Rights and Responsibilities booklet detailing how and when the badge should be used. Please read this booklet carefully as there are serious penalties for misusing your Blue Badge.

  • You must display your badge on the dashboard, where it can be clearly read through the front windscreen.
  • It is an offence to allow other people to use your badge to benefit from the concessions.

You can park in the all Southend car-parks but only badge holders with Southend-on-Sea issued badges can park for free. Badge holders with badges issued by other authorities will need to pay the appropriate car park charges, however on street parking bays remain available and free of charge to all badge holders.

For more information visit the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council website.

Motorbikes can park in any car park bays, but cannot park in on-street bays.
The following roads have parking bays specifically for motorbikes:

  • Western Esplanade
  • Elmer Approach
  • Gordon Road
  • Napier Avenue
