If you love to shop then you'll love Southend. With various shopping districts spread out across the city, there's a wide variety of shops to suit every taste and budget.

For unique independents and a laid back-atmosphere be sure to visit Leigh Broadway or Hamlet Court Road.

If it's big-name retailers you're after then Southend High Street is the place for you - you'll find all the national chains as well as some great independents along the High Street and in our two shopping centres, Royals Shopping Centre and The Victoria Shopping Centre.

Southchurch Road and Thorpe Bay Broadway are both up and coming areas where you can find groceries, flowers and much more from a range of independent retailers.

Shopping in Leigh-on-Sea

The Broadway and Leigh Road Shopping districts are two of the most diverse shopping streets in the city, with a range of individual shops, including butchers, bakers, greengrocers, fishmongers and much more. The alleyways through the shops in Broadway West lead to Rectory Grove and more shops, whilst Elm Road gives access to the Community Centre where you can find a monthly Farmers’ Market.

Shopping in Westcliff

Hamlet Court Road, in the heart of Westcliff-on-Sea, has a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere. This cosmopolitan street of independent retailers provides an eclectic mix of shops. These include vintage shops, cafes, florists, bakers, a greengrocers, jewellers and a wool shop, many offering online shopping services. High street names Boots, Cooperative, Greggs, Post Office, Sainsbury’s, Savers, Tesco and Wimpy are also represented.

Shopping in Central Southend

Southend-on-Sea is home to two shopping centres, Royals Shopping Centre and The Victoria Shopping Centre, plus a host of independent retailers and big name stores that offer everything from cards to clothes, toys to toiletries, bikes to bedding, and everything in between. With plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and leisure activities to choose from too, you can be sure that you’ll enjoy a great day of shopping by the seaside.

Shopping in Southchurch

Southchurch lies between the Kursaal and Thorpe Bay. It’s very much a working retail area, but has many independent outlets with an eclectic selection of gifts.

Thorpe Bay Broadway is a very pleasant row of shops in the heart of Thorpe Bay, offering everything from a cup of coffee to a cruise around the world. The Broadway has a lot more than you may imagine from a great range of independent businesses that are an asset to this community.
